Superior Drug Abuse Detection

Hair testing is a proven drug testing method that not only detects if drugs of abuse have been used, but can also provide highly accurate, quantitative data on long-term drug use for up to ninety (90) days prior to the test date.

Hair testing yields up to three or more times as many positive users than urine — making it a proven alternative testing method.  Hair testing is an ideal solution for pre-employment and random testing protocols.  It is NOT an appropriate method for post-accident or reasonable suspicion testing.  In both of these situations, the drug testing procedure should detect the drug use of any individual as close as possible to the time of the incident.

Using FDA-cleared testing reagents, this lab-based test offers the advantages of easy specimen collection and highly accurate results that meet the same reference standards as urine testing.

In addition, there are no known methods for sample adulteration (hair washing will not dilute the sample).Sample adulteration concerns are greatly reduced, as washing or bleaching hair will not “dilute” the sample.  Any known products being sold on the market which claim to wash or remove drugs from the hair have been tested by our laboratory and have been proven to be ineffective.

Fast turnaround of results is available, with negative results being reported within 24 hours of specimen receipt at the laboratory.  Non-negative results are confirmed using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) or gas chromatography/mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry (GC/MS/MS) within 48 to 72 hours.

Test results upheld by state and federal courts and in administrative agency hearings and arbitrations.  Many court systems rely on the technology of hair testing in their juvenile cases, probationary and diversionary programs.

Government studies reveal that each drug user costs a company between $7,000-$10,000 annually.  By routinely detecting as many as 3+ times more drug users than urinalysis, hair testing offers the most cost-effective and efficient method for drug testing.

Hair testing can test for the following classes of drugs:

  • Amphetamines (including Ecstasy)
  • Cocaine
  • Marijuana
  • Opiates
  • Phencyclidine (PCP)

NOTE:  Our policy does not allow us to advise or consult with you concerning a test we did not perform.  Consultations and advice is reserved for clients and/or individuals that our facility has performed testing for.  We apologize for this inconvenience; however, these types of calls can consume our time, thus not allowing us to serve those who are paying for our services.  If we may provide you with drug testing services for yourself, your company, etc., feel free to contact us.

Hair testing is preferable for the following reasons:
  • Highly accurate results
  • Easy-to-administer
  • Unlike urine tests, hair tests cannot be adulterated
  • Provides a 90-day history of drug use
  • Removes the embarrassment for the donor as well as the collection of the sample

Drugs tested for:

  • Marijuana
  • Opiates
  • Cocaine
  • Amphetamines
  • PCP (Phencyclidine)

Customized drug testing panel available upon request.

Collection Process:
  1. Donor provides Collector with picture ID (i.e. driver's license).
  2. Collector completes Alternative Specimen Drug Testing Custody and Control form (CCF).
  3. Collector collects hair specimen from Donor (head hair is first preference -- other alternatives are underarm, chest, arm and leg hair).  A specimen which is the approximate diameter of a pen or a pencil eraser is collected.
  4. Collector seals the specimen in foil and places the specimen in bag for transport to the lab.
  5. Collector completes paperwork and has Donor sign Custody and Control form.
  6. Collector sends the hair specimen and the CCF to the laboratory for testing.

Results are obtained in 24-72 hours from time specimens are received by the laboratory.
